I don't know how many of you saw Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy in 2004, but it was - to my mind - one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen. Packed with enough imagination for TWO movies. After the worldwide praise heaped on the Mexican director for last year's Pan's Labyrinth - one of the most visually stunning movies ever made - perhaps this is not so shocking.

A new trailer was posted online today, for the sequel to that Dark Horse Comics adaptation, called Hellboy II - The Golden Army. I am posting it below. I think this one is much better than the teaser trailer we saw a few months ago. There is VISIONARY SPECTACLE here.

Del Toro has multiple projects lined up next, and at least two of them are worth counting the days for. One is his remake/update of Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein. And ... he has been slated to direct both Hobbit movies for producer Peter Jackson. Del Toro is probably the ONLY director who could take the LOTR reins from Jackson, and do more than just succeed him.
