TWISTED LOVE: THE JOKER & HARLEY QUINN

While the rumors are still flying as to what director Christopher Nolan might do for a follow up to his masterful The Dark Knight, one of the more interesting ideas I've read was to bring The Joker's moll-doll Harley Quinn into the mix. While I would love to see that relationship explored on the big screen, I don't see how this could happen in the wake of Heath Ledger's tragic death. Nolan is reportedly so heartbroken over the actor's demise, that many believe he will not return to the franchise. Given that, even if he did return, I don't see him recasting Batman's nemesis. Who would even dare to step into those shoes -- clown shows though they may be?
However, leave it to YouTubers to show us what might have been. Created by a 17-year-old webmaster named Gea, the two videos below feature Heath Ledger as The Joker and Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn. Each was edited from existing film clips (obviously), but are so ingeniously put together that it is now even more of a crime that we will never see such a coupling at a theater near you (Brittany Murphy would be perfect in this part). Using the songs Bang, Bang, My Baby Shot Me Down by Nancy Sinatra, and Sally's Song from The Nightmare Before Christmas, these vids are quite entertaining ... not to mention disturbing, in a good way. The fact that the editor on these is still a teenager is doubly amazing. Check 'em out.
One more just for fun. This one is by a YouTuber named MsHarlyQuin who, as near as I can tell, does in-costume stage shows under the titular name. In this vid, she sings the ultimate codependent song As Long As He Needs Me from the musical Oliver! It's short, sweet, funny, and apt. Enjoy.
